To those who don’t know, Gobi Manchurian is a combination of two different cultures namely, Indian and Chinese. That’s why the cooking and flavoring are influenced by both.

 

Ingredients

 

For Cauliflower

  • 1 pc. Cauliflower, medium
  • ¼ cup Corn Flour
  • ½ – ¾ cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. Ginger Paste
  • 1 ½ tsp. Garlic Paste
  • ¼ tsp. White Pepper
  • 1 tbsp. Red Chili Sauce
  • Oil for Frying
  • Salt to Taste

 

For Sauce

  • 1 pc. Big Onion, cubed
  • 2 pcs. Small Red and Green Bell Peppers
  • 2 tbsp. Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Red Chili Sauce
  • 2 tbsp. Sweet and Sour Sauce
  • 1 tbsp. Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp. Sesame Oil
  • 2 tbsps. Corn Flour, dissolved in water
  • 2 tsps. Ginger Paste
  • 2 tsps. Garlic Paste
  • 1-2 tbsps. Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp. Vinegar (optional)
  • 2 tbsps. Green Onions for garnishing, chopped

Directions

  1. For frying the cauliflower, add the corn flour and all-purpose flour in a large bowl, then add the rest of the ingredients one at a time before adding some water and form a thick paste. Add the cauliflower florets in the batter and make sure that all florets are coated.

 

  1. Deep-fry the cauliflower florets until it turns golden-brown. Remove from pan and place them in a paper napkin to drain excess oil before setting them aside.

 

  1. Prepare the sauce by heating some oil in a pan. Add ginger and garlic paste and sauté until golden-brown. Add the onions, bell peppers and mix.

 

  1. Stir in the sweet and sour sauce, the dissolved corn flour before seasoning it with some salt and other spices then mix it well.

 

  1. And lastly, add the deep-fried florets into the sauce and mix it until all are well-blended. Place in a bowl, top with green onions and serve along with rice.
